James J. Davidson, III
Senior Partner


 
James J. Davidson, III began his practice of law in 1964, when he joined one of the oldest and most prestigious firms in Lafayette, Louisiana. He is currently the senior partner in the firm.

A graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Davidson received his law degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. He specializes as a litigator, product and utility law. He also specializes in general corporate and business transactions.

His numerous professional memberships include the Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, Advocate American Board of Trial Advocates, charter member of the Electric Cooperative Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, International Association of Defense Counsel, and American Counsel Association. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association (past member of the Louisiana House of Delegates), Lafayette Parish Bar Association, the Board of Governor's, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association (past member of the House of Delegates). He is a member of the Council of the Louisiana Law Institute, a life member of the American Bar Foundation and a charter member of the Louisiana Bar Foundation. Davidson is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in Louisiana, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United Sates Supreme Court.

Long active in civic activities, Davidson is past president of the Board of Trustees of the University of Louisiana - Lafayette Foundation, past secretary/treasurer of Rotary Club of Lafayette and past board member of the Evangeline Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. For almost a decade, he has acted as coach for ULL's four-time National Champion water ski team.
