The roots of our firm date to the year 1927, when Mr. James J. Davidson, Jr. (1904-1990) established his practice in Lafayette, Louisiana, following graduation from Tulane University. In the years that followed, Mr. Davidson became one of the most highly respected lawyers in the state, known as a true 'lawyer's lawyer.' Mr. Davidson served as president of the Louisiana Bar Association and the Louisiana Law institute, and brought a level of integrity to the practice of law that is still the standard to be emulated today.

The genesis of the present firm was a partnership formed in 1949 between Mr. Davidson and Mr. Richard Meaux. The firm has continued to build on that foundation ever since.

Although Davidson Meaux is one of the oldest law firms in the area, we are today a technologically advanced, cutting-edge firm focused on high-quality client service.We are a full-service civil practice firm, offering a broad range of litigation, transactional and advisory services, including a substantial defense trial practice in insurance, railroad, premises liability, products liability and professional liability, a general trial practice in commercial, business, corporate, labor and employment and other types of litigation matters, business and commercial transactions and contracts, bankruptcy, banking law, real estate, corporate and limited liability company matters, and public utility law and regulation.
